The Long-Standing Online Campaign, beginning in Germany, travelling through Italy and Greece to the Sea of Azov.
I stand by ensuring those with lower hp go first, but since herding the ooze will probably require another turn (and moving probably wont help) I am going to attack.Should we be adding strength to torch attack/damage?I feel like there is some degree of proficiency/damage concern here we've been simplifying with just a d20 roll.(no strength bonuses below)d20: 16d3: 2
(by wont help, I mean it will have a chance of herding it the wrong direction.)
I think Sofia is in a good spot where she is, so unless somebody has a good idea to the contrary she'll just keep holding the torch and staying put.(Have a nice weekend Alexis. My wife and I also have the place to ourselves through Sunday.)
Sorry, Kismet, meant to answer that. Apply your strength bonus to hit, but not to damage. You're doing damage with the fire, but not with force, so there's no extra bonus there. That hits, and the 2 damage seems to be felt ~ but apparently, because you are the only person attacking with a torch this round, it doesn't seem willing to "herd." It isn't pulling away from just your torch as it did when you and Enrico were attacking together.
There is room for Sofia to scamper over and go up the ladder, if she wants to try that.
I dunno if we can have any debris take flame and help with herding by large pieces of fire behind it...Or if that would take too long or anything. But till then I'll just have to keep prodding it till we can herd it again.
Oh and yeah ladder is kind of the point. I'm waiting on you and Enrico at this point. Or until I get hit hard like Enrico did.
Ok, it looks like Sofia can make it to the ladder in 4. (0703-0604-0503-0404). How many AP to leap up onto it and climb?
I've been giving everyone a full round to get their feet on the bottom rung. Sofia took smoke, so she has no special climbing ability - but if you make a dex check as a monk, I'll say you've cleared the bottom rung enough to let someone else start climbing next round.
Sofia moves towards the ladder (0703-0604-0503-0404) and attempts to clear the bottom rung. D20 for dex check: 15 That's a success with a dex of 15, right?
[Let's see if anyone is still here]Yes, Sofia, matching your ability stat is a success. Sofia is feet and hands above the floor, ready to continue up the ladder the next round. As you look up, you can see a moderately spiraling shaft that goes up at least forty feet before it bends out of sight. The creature attacks once against Kismet, rolls a natural 1, and effectively comes practically near to touching the flame of Kismet's torch. It shudders throughout its body and retreats to 0407, leaving the way completely clear for the ladder.Enrico and Kismet may decide what to do, while Sofia can continue to climb (or act otherwise).
Well, if Sofia goes up now, I'm in range to go up next, then Enrico can go up behind me.Assuming Enrico has no problem with being the last. As is, it's the fastest way out.I'd rather get out of here quicker. I stow my shield and climb as soon as Sofia makes room assuming Enrico does not object by say... Tuesday?
Please presume that you're climbing up behind Sofia, Kismet. Enrico can take care of himself.
That's the plan... go for it Kismet.
Kismet can begin climbing. So unless Enrico wants to fight the mass alone, he can climb the ladder as well. Not sure that Sofia is checking the blog at this time or not.
Thank you.I haven't heard from Sofia since I started again after the break. I'll just say that she'll hold onto the side of the ladder and let Kismet climb up ahead of her, so that we can move on.Kismet? Same description of the passage above you that I gave already.
Oh, and I owe you some experience. I'm just working on the book for the moment. I'll get it to you when I'm a little less distracted and more rested.
Sofia will follow Kismet and make room.for Enrico.
I believe that is an accurate account of the x.p. the party has received (see main post above).
I have moved to a new post.
