The Long-Standing Online Campaign, beginning in Germany, travelling through Italy and Greece to the Sea of Azov.
Hmm. Am I correct in understanding that a quarterstaff, being a two-handed weapon, cannot be drawn as part of a move?
It is not the number of hands, but the weight. A quarterstaff is 5 pounds or less ~ 2.78 pounds, to be exact. You should be able to draw it while moving.
Ah, gotcha. I wasn't totally clear from the wiki page - I thought it was limited to one-handed weapons! In that case, since she's closed the range and I can't keep clear even though she's out of daggers, I'll bow to the inevitable and try to keep Sofia focused on me so Enrico can deal with Kismet.(I mean, I could run away, hope she goes after him, and sling at her, but she could just chase me down and I won't even get the first strike.)Ibrahim drops his sling (0 AP), moves to 1107 while drawing his quarterstaff (3 AP), and attacks Sofia (2 AP.)I'll wait on your confirmation to roll my attack.
Swing a d20.
Rolling a d20 gives me a natural 14. I think that's a miss with the non-proficiency penalty, but just in case I rolled a d6 for damage and got a 6.[OOC: In case anyone is looking for a dice-roller on the go, I've been using orokos.com for my rolling when I don't have physical dice at hand; it's a nice tool and tracks all the rolls you make for future reference.]
It is a -3 penalty for the bard's proficiency penalty, so that does miss.[In all my gaming, I've never encountered such resistance in 1st level characters to take a proficiency in a weapon they can afford. It just makes no sense to me]
No offense, But I'm hoping Enrico misses.
I should think.
[in my case, it was flat out carelessness in not checking the market before picking them. I'll cheerfully switch to quarterstaff proficiency if you allow it at this late date; it's just as appropriate a weapon for my view of the character. Enrico offered to pick up the tab on a scimitar but we haven't been back to Syros since. I am also happy to suck up the non-prof penalty for the spar and switch proficiencies afterward if you're ok with that; otherwise believe me it is at the very top of my priority list once we hit a market again.]
OOC - That's why we're practicing now... better to learn these things before we encounter bad guys! :)Enrico bops Kismet again. OOC - Annoying that orokos.com requires a username and password... I've been using the (rand) function on Excel to roll dice in the hope it would look like maybe I was doing work. I also have a dice shaker app on my phone. 1d20 = 19 + 2 = 21. Sorry Kis...Damage (1d4+1) = 2 + 2 = 4
We'll leave the situation as is, Ibrahim.Yes, sorry Kismet: that will stun you.
It would have quite possibly gone the other way had I not missed my first swing.I tend to use this one: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/dice/dice.htm
I believe Sofia is free to take an action if that's OK.
That's good with me, if you can see everyone's changed positions. It will save me the trouble of making an additional map.
Sofia strikes Ibrahim in hex 1107to hit: 13dmg: 2Then moves 0906-0807-0808
That was an unarmed attack.
Be sure and say so ahead of time, Sofia. In a real combat, I'm going to rule that you use a weapon as a default. Also, call it "open hand" ~ though when I start working on the monk studies, ichido, tae kwon do and tiger claw are likely to become part of the lexicon.I think Ibrahim is stunned by 2 damage. The next post is up.
