Psammodrons Round 11 - Down to Two Fights

(F) takes a swing at Sofia, rolling a 19. It does 4 damage, which by my read drops Sofia to 4 hit points and pushes her back again into 0725. (F) continues to press forward into 0825.

(H) attacks Arkemis, but drops its weapon, which skitters into 1225 without breaking. That's like, my third drop, right?

Freaking quarterstaffs everywhere.

(C) attacks Kismet, rolls a 12 and misses.

(E) attacks Carlito, rolls a 4 and misses.

(A) rushes Neklan, knowing full well that its the spellcaster that's been making its life difficult lately. It moves 3 and doesn't have time to attack.

The party's attack.

Sofia is stunned. Arkemis takes advantage of the fact that H has dropped its weapon, expends 2 movement to get into 0925 and swings at (F) to relieve Sofia. He rolls a 17, and proceeds to do 5 damage with the broadsword. That's enough to kick (F) out of 0825 and stun it.

Kismet, Carlito and Neklan can take actions. Your call on Carlito's action, Enrico.

Enrico is no longer bleeding and not in imminent danger of dying, correct? I mean, assuming a snakeman doesn't smack him again.

Alexis Smolensk said...

Yes, you won't die unless you're hit again.

If someone could heal you 1 hp, you'd have a chance of regaining consciousness.

(OOC: I'm going to try a little change with the experience delivery; as the players know, the bonus 20 xp per damage that is divided among the party goes to everyone who takes part. Now that Enrico is unconcious, I'm going to keep track of the bonus he received UP TO that point, but future bonus xp will only be divided between Sofia, Kismet and Neklan. How complicated is that? Not too bad, actually)

By my count I'm -4 to hit with a scimitar, for low str (-1) and no proficiency. Nevertheless, I take a swing at A.
d20-4: 10

Enrico Guerriero said...

OK. Carlito slashes at A, not E, since his first concern is keeping anyone from attacking Enrico, and E can't reach Enrico as long as Carlito is in the way.

To hit: 20 (rolled a 19)
Damage: 6

(OOC: Keep rocking it boys. I'm following along)

Neklan will be very happy to know that Carlito has just killed (A).

Awaiting Kismet's move.

Neklan, assuming Carlito can keep E at bay for one more round, maybe you can tend to Enrico? Do you have a healing salve?

Neklan Krasna said...

Very relieved!

No, I've got nothing but a handkerchief.

(OOC: Apologies, work work...)

Kismet strikes at E, as he's feeling a bit protective lately...

D20: 11 (9 +2)
2d4: 7 (3 +4)

It looks like I'm going to be in meetings from 8:30 til noon, sorry...

(OOC: That's fine. I may lose the whole day. Please note the update on my main blog)

Kismet, your attack fails.

Half their number has been killed, however, so it is time for a morale check. I roll 2d6; the number necessary to roll must be 7+.

Oh, you guys are lucky. You are so lucky. They roll a 6, moving to break and run.

Do you wish to continue doing what damage you're able, or let them go. If you wish to go on fighting, I will try to get up the next combat map today.

Neklan Krasna said...

Personally, I plan to get off one last potshot. (Meetings moved to 1:00...)

Enrico Guerriero said...

I don't know if it's my call, but I'd like Carlito to give somebody a going away present.

Neklan Krasna said...

I'll hold off to roll until the others weigh in on actions. Short range for a sling is up to 13 hexes, and they get a full round head start while I'm loading, but I should still have at least one of them in close range, I think. Personally I don't need a map.

Kismet Korkmaz said...

I don't mind one parting axe in their general direction.

But that said, I have no interest in chasing them down.

Sofia Koleva said...

Any interest in making a break for the old man chained up and attempting a rescue? It would be a risky move, but should we desire it now is the time.

Sofia Koleva said...

(OOC: Just read the main blog, get well soon Alexis.)

Kismet Korkmaz said...

We cleared the ambush force. I would kind of hope we could rescue the man for a more in depth explanation.

Neklan Krasna said...

It's a risky move, let's see the outcome of our volley first. I think most of us can't take more than one hit without being stunned and then killed.

Sofia Koleva said...

Alternately, we can not push our luck, get Enrico into the boat and try again another day, one where perhaps we get the jump on them. I wonder if these creatures are cold-blooded and therefore less active at night...

Enrico Guerriero said...

Not that Enrico can say anything at the moment, but I think it's imperative we rescue the old man. No doubt this was not their entire army and they'll be back in force... but we can't just leave him here.

Rescue him, then beat a hasty retreat.

Kismet Korkmaz said...

I'm all for rescue then retreat.
We CAN split up, since we don't intend to engage further.

I would recommend anyone with skills for saving the man AND speed try and save him. I will be recovering thrown weapons, one quarterstaff then fleeing to the boat since I only have 3 AP if shit goes down.

Sofia Koleva said...

Grab my daggers, Kismet. Hurl that stone, Neklan.

Sofia moves to hex 1322.

Neklan Krasna said...

Loading and swinging.

Enrico Guerriero said...

Again, assuming I have a say in Carlito's actions:

Please grab the hand axe Carlito threw. Meanwhile, Carlito loads his bow to shoot at the stragglers or, if they're already gone, provide covering fire.

Alexis Smolensk said...

I have no problems with anyone's actions, and will present the next post accordingly.

However, as of now, 7:30 AM my time, I have been awake continuously for 25.5 hours. Painkillers having no effect. Expect to see a doctor today, if I can get even a few hours of sleep (or not). Won't be posting.

Neklan Krasna said...

youch, they sounds awful

Kismet Korkmaz said...

Yeah, sounds like a good idea to visit a doctor.

Don't worry, I think most of us are patient.

James C. said...

Hang in there Alexis, wishing you well.

Alexis Smolensk said...

Okay, I'm here.

This is a bit of a mess, so bear with me as I get this back on track.

First of all, I have updated THIS post so that it shows the last moves of the party before the creatures break and run.

I will then put up a new post, where I will show the creatures having broken and run, AND actions from this post copied onto the next one. I would have really preferred that the party DIDN'T tell me what they were doing, but rather ONLY answered the question, do you intend to go on fighting, then waiting for me to get up the new post ...

But here we are. I'll interpret as best I can and then ask questions on the next post.

The next post is up.
