Tower Crown Round 9 - The Left Flank Threatens

Andrej finds himself facing four foes on the left; Ahmet has two on the right.  And there's Mr. Pink to consider.  Klaas is in the second round of loading his crossbow.  And Janos seems to have his pommel-strap caught in his fly.

It's the party's action first; remember, Andrej, that after your move Mr. Orange will no longer be stunned.

At this point, Klaas might be better used elsewhere.

Ahmet is free to swing and Lukas may take what action he deems appropriate.

About the held guy in 0703:

1) Do I get a to-hit bonus?
2) Do I get two attacks against him?
3) Is he "unheld" as soon as he takes damage (like a sleep spell)?

(OOC: lol, I suppose that's what I get for my tardiness.)

It seems like the only sensible action is for Janos to move toward the group of newcomers. However, since he won't be able to attack, I don't just want him standing in the way of whatever actions Andrej or Lukas decide to take...

Out of curiosity, how long does the hold person spell last, assuming we don't disrupt it first?

Ahmet, you get one attack but you don't roll to hit, it is automatic damage. Hitting the held person has a chance of breaking the spell (the held person must make saving throw at -2).

Andrej said...

Hold person should last 8 rounds, so I'd focus on the un-held guys for now.

Would I be able to reach mr. orange with a melee attack from hex 0405?

Alexis said...

The hold person lasts 2 rounds per level.

Janos does not have something he can throw while he moves? Throwing a dagger, hand axe, hammer and the like takes 2 movement.

Since Mr. Orange is up on the machine (he jumped down on it - remember the bottom of the floating door is 8 feet in the air), and since the machine is at least 4 feet off the ground, it would take Andrej the whole of his movement just to mount on top of it (3 moves).

I should add it took the whole of Mr. Orange's movement to drop from the door to where he is right now.

Unfortunately, Janos threw both of his axes while the party was on the catwalk, and I don't believe I ever said that he retrieved them before climbing up here. C'est la vie.

I could attack one of the "held" enemies this turn instead, but unless someone objects I feel like it's best to simply get in position to do something useful next turn.

Understood. Andrej steps into 0406 and takes a swing at yellow hand:

to hit: natural 20
2nd to hit: 13

dmg (light mace x2): 8

Ahmet swings at Mr. Green.

To hit: 14
Damage: 5

Alexis, you'll be happy to know I used randbetween and not a die. ;)

Hm. As I recall, you rolled and they did not fall to the bottom of the tower. We must take into account the intelligence of your character, and presume that to some degree there are things you would certainly do as a person raiding a castle.

Since there was plenty of time to loiter at the bottom of the ladder before climbing, we may assume you collected your handaxes before ascending to the crown.

You are welcome to me, Janos, to hold these reinforcements off while Ahmet brings the hurt.

Perhaps Klass should join us as well. Does he have his pole arm with him?

Alexis said...

Andrej,

That most certainly hits; the damage stuns Yellowhand, who staggers back to hex 304.

Your move also makes room for Janos to move through 0505, if he so wishes.

Alexis said...

Ahmet,

That also hits. Mr. Green takes the damage and is NOT stunned.

Alexis said...

Klaas does have a polearm, but unfortunately it is at the bottom of the ladder (couldn't carry both the heavy crossbow and the polearm with him). The only hand weapon he has with him is a dagger.

János said...

In that case, if Janos were to step into 0605, could he attempt to throw his axe at Pinkhand? Or would the rear of the machine be blocking his way?

Andrej said...

I would prefer keeping Klaas on the xbow then, and close by Lukas. Could his controller move him a hex away from the ladder? If Janos joins me around hex 0405 or 0505 or so that leaves Mr. Green to Ahmet with either of Lukas or Klaas ready to support either front as necessary.

Andrej said...

Sorry, multitasking and missed that you could toss an axe this round Janos... making the attack is the better move for sure, go for it.

Alexis said...

As the top of the black platform of the machine is 4 feet high, yes Janos, you could throw an axe overtop of it. For future reference, the wheels are about 3 feet high and 5 feet in diameter; the cloud and bright orb in the top of the machine is nearly 8 feet high - and thus completely blocks line of sight (though presumably it has no substance, and gives off no heat).

Mr. Green is one tough cookie.

(OOC: Indeed. Not knowing how much damage the oil did I think he's taken 20+ points of damage so far.)

Andrej said...

Think they would surrender? Wanna try talking them into it Lukas?

János said...

Alrighty then, Janos will shift his bastard sword into one hand, move into hex 0605, and use his free hand to hurl an axe at Pinkehand.

d20: 18 (yes!)
1d6: 5

(OOC: "You mean you wish to surrender to me? Very well, I accept.")

(OOC: Ahhhh... it's July, the campaign has resumed and it only took 3 rounds of combat for an appropriate Princess Bride reference to be heard. Good to be back, boys.)

Alexis said...

That's going to definitely hit for Janos. Pinkhand stumbles back to 0104, where he is stunned also.

I only await to hear from Lukas.

Sorry, that was Lukas. Damn this blogger interface. Lukas said he was casting push and that Klaas should move forward while continuing to load.

He also made a nice joke about accidentally playing Civ last night. Then I stupidly deleted the comment.

12:47: Yes! Horse Archers! I shall ravage your lands and pillage your towns!
