Tower Crown Round 4: Bashing the Party

I'm judging that Lukas is following Janos forward (it was a bit unclear), primarily because Klaas again failed his morale check, and isn't up for rushing ahead of a party member.  Klaas will appear at the top of the ladder next round, and if he makes a roll, he will fire - but that is next round.

For the present:  Mr. Green shunts Mr. Red aside, dropping his crossbow as he does so; he draws a short sword, taking one move to do so (he's used 2 so far) and then attacks Ahmet.   He rolls a 5 and misses.

Mr. Yellow swings at Andrej again.  He rolls a 17, +1 for his strength makes it an 18, and for him this hits AC 0.  He does 7 damage with his flail.  Andrej was at 21 hit points and is stunned.

Mr. Pink swings his flail at Janos, rolling a 16.  He also gets a +1 for his strength, and for him this hits AC 1.  Mr. Pink also does 7 damage with his flail.  Janos was at 27 hit points and is also stunned.

Meanwhile ... things are happening inside the door.  A group of four men have managed to roll a grey, smooth ball about a half-foot in diameter to the edge of the doorway, all of the men using levers (two at a time).  The ball appears to be far more heavy than it would possibly be for its size, even if it were made of lead.

This round for the party:

Lukas can cast a spell, but he can't discharge it until next round.  He can obviously take whatever action he's able; if he moves from his position, Klaas will be able to climb.

Ahmet, also, is unhindered in his action.  He can attack either Mr. Green or Mr. Yellow, or move otherwise in the manner that suits him.

Ahmet takes a hack at Mr. Green.

To hit: 13
Damage: 7

Bleh.

Not as bad as you think. It hits. It does not, however, stun.

Yikes.

Yeah. And he took damage from Andrej's oil, too.

Judging by the ridiculous amount of damage these fellows are taking without stunning, I think the sleep spell might be best used now. Seeing as I doubt charm person will work, and we need to stymie the hail of blows.

How close does that ball look to falling out of the doorway? If it's fall is imminent maybe I should wait for the shaking which I assume follows said drop.

If not, I will begin casting sleep. And hope there's a chance of succeeding. I assume our opponents appear human?

The ball seems like it might be able to be dropped anywhere from 1 to 3 rounds.

I'll start casting sleep then.

If you don't move, Klaas can't climb up. You can cast the spell and move one hex.

(OOC: Can he climb DOWN and begin casting, then climb UP to actually cast it?)

Nobody cleared a way so far I think, and I don't think casting and climbing a ladder are possible, so unless a spot opens, I don't have anywhere to go. I am aware Klaas can't get up now, but I'm also aware that due to terrain I cannot move to hex 0606. If Andrej clears a way, I will gladly press forwards. But I'm going to avoid melee till this spell goes off, so I don't think it's likely. Perhaps after casting the spell.

Andrej is stunned again, so won't be able to clear anything as of yet (if at all). I'd rather have a sleep spell next round than a Klaas. :)

Hey you never know, he could have rolled a 14 on damage again. Forget that he'd roll a one and hit you in the butt for 14, but there you go.

RE: climbing. Not really. You must imagine the 5' movement as slowly shuffling your feet while mumbling and gathering together the cosmic forces that enable you to discharge the spell. Climbing a ladder would take WAY too much concentration, and you'd ruin the spell.

Right now, Lukas is at the top of the ladder; and you make a good point. You can't go anywhere except Andrej's hex, so I guess you are stuck there. Sorry, I hadn't thought about it - DMs make errors too.
